Staff Opportunities
Come work, practice and study at Dorje Denma Ling. Our daily schedule includes 2 hours of practice a day, a 6 hour work day, evenings free for study or social events, one nyinthun per month and one-two days off per week (program schedule permitting). Staff receive room and board and in some cases, a monthly stipend. Generally, a six-month or one-year commitment is requested for core staff positions.

Program Manager - Open until filled
Dorje Denma Ling is seeking someone to fill the Program Manager position. This is a department head position, requiring a relatively senior practitioner who is able to work with program calendar planning, on-site program organization and support, invitations to teachers, and many other aspects of our year-round program offerings. We currently have a Programs Liaison who, acting as assistant to the Program Manager, works on staffing and supporting programs.
This valued staff position receives a salary of $500 per month for a minimum two-year commitment, negotiable for shorter commitments, plus room, board and excellent medical insurance coverage. Additional benefits include generous retreat and vacation leave, SI rate for programs at other Shambhala centers, regular practice every day, monthly Werma and Padmasambhava feasts, and the warmth and brilliance of practice community life.

Publicity Person - Open until filled
Propagating Dorje Denma Ling’s service to the local and greater sangha, we seek a Shambhala Sangha practitioner who possesses
excellent skills in writing and design,
good interpersonal skills,
up-to-date desk top publishing skills.
If you have been part of our sangha for at least two years, have a stable daily personal practice, and are able to produce well-designed conventional and web-ready copy, Dorje Denma Ling would love to hear from you.

Network Administrator - Open until filled
Our Network Administrator is responsible for the management, support and maintenance of our PC/Apple LAN including the loading and optimization of software applications.
In addition to having a stable personal daily practice you willneed strong technical and interpersonal skills, and be able to self organize, project manage and practice Mediation in Action on a daily basis.

Head of Practice - Open until filled
Oversee all aspects of DDL staff practice.
Coordinate with the Director of Education regarding staff talks and classes.
Relate to programs regarding practice materials, set-up and take-down.

Cooks - Open until filled
Willingness to maintain a practice environment in the kitchen.
Ability to cook for large groups.
Interest in cooking healthy meals and using garden produce.
Sensitivity to special diet needs.

Facilities Support - Open until filled
Maintenance of DDL buildings, grounds, structures, vehicles and equipment.
On occasion, work-study positions are available for shorter periods of time if an
individual is able to make a significant contribution to Dorje Denma Ling. The
benefit level for these positions is at the discretion of the directors.

At Dorje Denma Ling there is a core year-round, residential staff of approximately twelve people who work together to create a community based on Shambhala principles and to provide a contemplative container for program visitors. The Dorje Denma Ling environment offers an inviting retreat setting for local, regional and international gatherings not only for Shambhala Buddhism but for all traditions that promote individual and global health and harmony. Program content spans all levels of experience with meditation and the human spiritual journey. Over 1,000 visitors come through the center in the course of a year.
The center is an active participant in the support and nourishment of the local community of Tatamagouche. There is an open house every Sunday morning throughout the year to which all are welcome. The Executive Director of Dorje Denma Ling sits on the North Shore Area Community Health Board and is also responsible for developing an initiative to create a forum for nurturing and sustaining the Tatamagouche community and environment. Dorje Denma Ling is a partner in the Katimavik program for young people, and is a member of the local bartering system (LETTS). Dorje Denma Ling is in the process of expanding, and its four principles of development planning are feng shui and sacred architecture, sustainability, community participation, and simplicity.
